I picked up the guitar when I was 15, stood on my parents driveway
and strummed away (hoping to somehow be discovered.) As expected,
there were no discoveries or record deals, nothing but complaining
neighbours. So I decided to write myself some songs, get better
than all the boys I went to school with and put together an album.
I recorded my first album in a friend's basement and sold copies
around the school yard.
And so began my musical career.
I grew up in Mississauga playing the church basement scene (punk
and hardcore shows.) In 1999 I entered the Streetsville 'Bread and
Honesy Festival' Battle of the Bands - competing against 30 bands.
I ended up winning the entire event, having been the only solo performer,
and the only female competitor in the entire battle. I have opened
for Bif Naked, Billy Talent (formerly Pezz), Ember Swift, Barabara
Lynch, Hunter Valentine, and many more. I started playing the Toronto
circuit when I was 17 - playing my first show at C'est What. I've
played all over the City and at events such as Mayworks, Toronto
Pride, AIDS benefit for Toronto, London Pride, and many more.
In late 2002 I released my
first cd entitled 'Heavy'. It was an album I recorded at home in
my kitchen, using my PC, my Behringer mixer and a couple programs
I managed to figure out to do the recording and mixing. In late
2004 I released my second cd entitled 'Damned'. It was recorded
in the studio at Lavalife Inc. (Go figure) by producer Scott Cooper.
I'm currently writing new content and hoping to have a new cd out
sometime next year.
